B-Safer: Threat Assessment and Management Training with Tracey Marshall

In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to the principles of violence threat assessment and management, specifically in relation to Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).

The B-SAFER (Brief Spousal Assault Form for the Evaluation of Risk) is a structured professional judgment tool to assess and manage risk for intimate partner violence (up to and including lethality). A case study will be included in the training to enhance the learning experience. 

Discussion of the threat assessment process will highlight the need for:

·         Detailed information-gathering from multiple sources

·         Multidisciplinary case management teams

·         Information sharing

·         Transparency in articulation of risk and management strategies
