A Night of Electro Rock, Edgy Pop, and More!
at LIVE! on Elgin
Featuring: Church of Trees, Area Resident, & Suzanne Nuttall

Church of Trees:
Church of Trees is a Canadian synthpop/ electro-rock band, whose debut Primitive Creatures (2017) charted in Japan, the UK, and across Canada. In 2018, they released The Dark & The Light, featuring the #1 single Like Gary Numan.
The band has released 8 albums that have spawned number 1 singles, such as World's a Bitch (ft rock legend Carole Pope), Like Gary Numan, Believe It Or Not, and Mystery Boys.
Their music has been played on 4 continents and has landed on college and independent charts in Canada, the U. S., the UK, and across Europe.

Area Resident:
With the release of the Protanopia album, Area Resident blends spacious and edgy pop and rock genres together to create an atmosphere that comes through experimental but with a catchy overtones..
"I always record my stuff without writing it first. I just sit down and try to start with a different instrument each time and see what kind of hook I can find, and then build a song around that. I guess the difference in approach this time is that I took more breaks, and kept re-visiting the songs. Each time I'd wipe a third of what I'd done and do it a little differently, tighten something up that was sloppy or out of tune, take something out if it was too busy or add something if it seemed to drag. I'd spend a week or more on a song rather than a day or two," explains songwriter Doug Hempstead of his process for recording the record.

Suzanne Nuttall:
SUZANNE NUTTALL embodies the spirit of classic folk singer-songwriters mixed with the passion of 1970s soul. Her original songs cover the full spectrum of human emotions: from quiet odes to love and loss, to joyful rockers sprinkled with glitter and a dash of crunch! Past bands have included Montreal roots duo BARE BONES and Toronto soul-funk band SUE de NYM. Suzanne eventually came full-circle and began performing and recording original songs under her own name, including "Trophy Wife" produced by Juno Award winner Michael Phillip Wojewoda. Catch Suzanne in her natural habitat... live on stage!
