Denim & Dignity: A Community Catwalk for Justice
π Denim & Dignity: A Community Catwalk for Justice
Hosted by The Centre π
An event where fashion meets advocacy and community takes the runway.
For the first time ever, The Centre is bringing allies in the community to the runway. Denim & Dignity is our inaugural fashion show — a bold new signature event where style meets social justice.
In honour of Denim Day, Denim & Dignity is more than a fashion show — it’s a statement. A night where community, creativity, and advocacy collide to stand against sexual harm and support survivors.
What is Denim Day?
Denim Day is an International awareness campaign held on the last Wednesday of April where people wear jeans to protest againstthe victim blaming myths surrounding sexual harm. Originating from a 1999 Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a r*pe conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. The movement encourages folks to wear denim in support of survivors and to promote education.
