Mario Kart 64 Tournament

Ready, set, go! We’re excited to bring another Mario Kart 64 Tournament back on December 10th right here at District Beta! There is a $5 dollar entrance fee to compete, with a cash prize for the winner! 

Practice and registration starting at 6:30pm, tournament starts at 7:30pm.

 

Rules

4 player – Top 2 advance to the next round

Versus Mode

150cc

The two players with the most points after 4 races will advance forward

 

If there is a tie for second place in the initial rounds or a tie for first place in the Finals, a tiebreaker will be decided by a single 150cc Versus race on Luigi Raceway between the tied players.

 

1st Place – 9 points

2nd Place – 6 points

3rd Place – 3 points

4th Place – 0 points

 

Choosing Characters and Tracks

 

[4 Player] Players will draw numbers (1-4) to determine order of character selection (1 gets first choice, 2 gets second, 3 gets third, and 4 gets fourth).  The player who draws 4 gets choice of the 1st track. The player who gets fourth place in the game that follows will then choose the next track until 4 games are played.

 

[2 Player] Players will flip a coin to determine order of character selection. The coin flip winner gets choice of either character OR track. The coin flip loser then can choose. (i.e. if coin flip winner chooses track, then coin flip loser gets first choice of character).

 

Single elimination tournament bracket, randomly seeded

 

No course glitches are allowed. This includes hopping the starting wall on Wario Stadium Examples of glitches: https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Mario_Kart_64_glitches

 

If there are any questions regarding what constitutes a glitch, please talk to the TO.

 

We will supply controllers, but you are welcome to bring your own! However, no illegal mods are allowed for controllers brought

 

Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

 

As mandated by the government and in order to run this event, proof of vaccination will be required from all players and spectators in the facility.
