National Human Trafficking Awareness Day
This event will be hosted on March 1st in honour of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day which occurs annually on February 22nd. Through this event, it is our goal to promote education and awareness on this issue to those in our community. This will be done through a presentation from the Sexual Assault Survivors Centre Sarnia-Lambton and Victim Services Sarnia-Lambton regarding human trafficking and current trends in our community. This event will also include keynote speaker, Chantel Butterfield, who will speak on her lived experiences as a survivor of human trafficking and sexual violence.
Included in this event is a swag bag valued at $40, door prizes, therapy dogs on site, an amazing pasta lunch catered by Personal Touch, and to wrap up, a guided relaxation session by Joanne Fearns. There will also be counsellors on site for debriefing as needed.
Meet our keynote speaker, Chantel! As a survivor of human trafficking and sexual violence, Chantel's passion for the gender-based violence sector drives her commitment to advocacy and awareness. A devoted mother and wife, her personal journey fuels a dedication to creating a safer world for future generations. Beyond her advocacy work, she finds solace in the transformative power of literature and the healing embrace of music, often immersing herself in the evocative lyrics that resonate with the depth of her experiences.
