Neon Ghosthouse:
Your mom’s favourite boyband, Neon Ghosthouse, is smashing their way onto Canada’s music scene with their debut EP, Mercy Rule (11/08/2023). Neon Ghosthouse packs a big sound into every song, making them great for fans of Jimmy Eat World, Smashing Pumpkins, and Billy Talent.
The Ottawa-based emo alt-rockers have been playing together since 2021, but recording their EP has the band re-energized and tighter than ever. Neon Ghosthouse consists of Scott Martin on lead vocals, Zac MacDonald on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jack O’Sullivan on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Jared Lance on bass, and Stuart “Stu” MacFarlane on drums.
Neon Ghosthouse makes music that is equally suited for mosh pits as it is for sitting alone on your roof and staring into the night sky. Locally, the band is known for their catchy riffs and masterful ability to energize their audience.
Neon Ghosthouse will be taking on Live! on Elgin as the featured act in the Indie Folk Show series this summer, bringing stripped down, acoustic vibes yet retaining their unique musical mastery and indie rock grit.

Loche Nisse Monster:
Loch Nisse Monster is dawning on the Ottawa music scene with the folky vibe of the mystical Scottish monster, telling stories and painting joyous and painful emotions in her songwriting. Along with musical inspiration from the genres of rock, pop, and punk, the "monster" in Loch Nisse Monster doesn't hesitate to get at ironic and unjust truths in the world, yet with the bright hope of tales.
Loch Nisse Monster’s song Fog in the Window was the recipient of an honourable mention from the Carleton Poetry & Songwriting Competition in 2023. This song was released on April 5, 2024, with more to come.
The singer/songwriter had both her debut and first headlining shows in April of 2024, but has been playing venues around the province for the past two years. Notable features include Live! On Elgin, Ottawa Bagelshop, Art in Fashion at the Hudson, New Edinburgh Streetfest, the Carleton Music Showcase, private and fundraising events, and more. Loch Nisse Monster is just getting started, and will be playing local shows throughout the summer and on the famed Nate Silva’s album tour in Ottawa on August 8.

Wychwood:
Wychwood might just be the world’s first “blackgrass” band. They play old murder-ballads and other spooky traditional folk songs, with some bright and sentimental spots thrown in for contrast. At concerts and on recordings, you can expect gritty vocal harmonies backed by banjo, guitar, and fiddle, along with an ever-changing smorgasbord of other instruments – saw, harmonica, mandolin, glockenspiel, bass, accordion, etc.
Some days they’re acoustic purists. Some days they like to run their instruments through biting distortion and dreamy reverb for extra flavour – in order to corrupt traditional folksongs with bits of black metal, ambient, and noise music. They’re trying to make folk music dangerous again.
